OUR THANKS TO THE FAMILIES THAT RETURNED THEIR 2010 PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE FORMS !

Here are a few things our parents have to say about our program:

"I love that KGLC has socially and academically prepared my child in such a way that they are ahead in may areas of their learning.  We do wish that the school didn't have so many days off and early dismissals."

REPLY:  Kinder-Garden Learning Center has an excellent reputation for preparing children for the elementary school systems.  We combine the warmth of home with a curriculum that challenges our students daily.  Although KGLC does close for 15 days (paid holidays) each year and for one week (unpaid vacation) each summer, these days are listed on our annual calendar to provide families with advance notice should they be forced to work during the holidays.  KGLC also closes early 6 times during the year.  Usually this is either to clean up from or prepare for a special event for the children at the school.  We are very sorry that these few days are causing a problem for your family, but we hope you will agree that our teachers need and deserve this time off.

"Kudos to Ms. JoJo.  (She) is an amazing woman!  We love all of the staff.  Ms. Luz is a wonderful musical person in my daughter's life.  There have been a few snafoos since Ms. JoJo isn't there, but everyone seems to give 100% to do the best they can!  We love you guys!"

REPLY:  We must agree with you there!  Ms. JoAnn will be sorely missed and Ms. Luz is a tremendous asset to the KGLC family.  All our staff members are good at what they do and continuously work to get even better.  It is easy to see that our teachers love their jobs and the children they are caring for at KGLC.  Thank you for recognizing them.  They deserve all the credit for our success.

"Awesome!  What a difference from other daycares."

REPLY:  Thank you for the kinds words.  Your confidence and trust is greatly appreciated.  Our staff does it's best to make everyone feel like part of OUR FAMILY

"I love the program and feel very safe when I drop my child off.  My biggest problem with the program is that staff only answers the phone between 1 and 3.  I would like to be able to call anytime and be able to reach a teacher.  I also wish tuition was cheaper for infants when you have multiple kids.  It makes it really hard to have more than one child overall.  I love the staff and know that my child is well taken care of and is learning so much.  Thanks for everything."

REPLY:  Our teachers try to speak with every parent before they leave each morning and each afternoon.  They are not able to conduct lengthy conversations during the day because their full attention must be on the children.  The responsibility to provide exceptional care to the children in their charge is not something they take lightly.  Our teachers' focus must remain on the students in their care and not on answering the telephone.  Parents can call at any time and leave a message, leave a note for the teacher in their child's folder or call us between 1pm & 3pm any afternoon to speak with your child's teacher.  If there is ever a problem, concern or an extenuating circumstance our teachers will contact you immediately.  All we want is what's best for OUR CHILDREN.  Also, KGLC particpates with the Care-4-Kids Tuition Assistance Program for those families that qualify and also provides a family discount for families paying the full tuition for siblings enrolled at the center.  This is outlined in our Parent Handbook and it's our way of helping families with more than one child in daycare and has been in affect since we started in 1995..

"I feel that KGLC is like family.  I always feel welcomed."

REPLY: We must agree with you there!  Our staff treats everyone like a member of OUR family.  We pride ourselves on our "Open Door" policy and wish more parents would take advantage of volunteer opportunities.  We invite and welcome visits from every parent and consider you as part of OUR FAMILY.

"The program is well organized and very clean.  Thanks for always giving me reminders."

REPLY:  Our teachers plan each month's activities in advance and make every effort to follow the calendar daily.  The amazing thing about our program is that it allows us to change lessons at any time to meet the needs and/or suggestions of our students.  Children love to have some input on what they are learning and we love to allow them this freedom.  Any parent that picks up their child at the end of the day can attest that our aides do an enormous amount of cleaning.  It is important to clean and sanitize everything in a childcare center to kill germs and prevent illnesses from spreading.  Thank you very much for allowing us to care for OUR kids and thank you for noticing our hard work!

"Thank you for making me a better parent.  You guys are underpaid - really."

REPLY:  Thank you so much.  We cannot stress enough how important OUR FAMILY is to us at KGLC.  We are lucky enough to attract a diverse group of caring people, like you, and that is why Kinder-Garden Learning Center such a great place for families.  We learn as much from parents as they learn from us.  The old saying is that no teacher becomes wealthy, but because they are paid in hugs and smiles, they lead the richest lives on the planet.  Thank you for making your family part of OUR FAMILY.

"Children should be told why something is wrong.  Don't just punish the child because he or she did something you felt was wrong.  A child will do much better if praised.  Don't just punish - They learn absolutely nothing - Each child is different and needs to be treated according to their needs.  They're not just a number - They are individuals and they all need something different from you.  There is a lack of communication between teacher and parent.  Time out should be productive - not just sit a child in a corner.  The child learns a lot in the classes - but that's not all there is to teaching."

REPLY:  Our staff never punishes a child!  We believe that all children are genuinely good at heart.  A child may have a problem with a part of his/her behavior and that may require a teacher to discipline the child.  A written description of our discipline policy is provided to every family upon enrollment.  We believe in establishing consistent, developmentally appropriate, understandable limits.  Teachers respond to inappropriate behavior with insight, sensitivity, and skill by first using positive guidance.  When clear, consistent and age–appropriate limits are present, children increasingly become responsible for themselves.  When children get upset and/or break rules, they are given help to calm down and talk about the rules or what is bothering them before returning to their activity.  If a teacher feels that a child continues to display inappropriate behavior, he/she will then be redirected to a more appropriate activity and if the behavior continues, he/she will be asked to sit in “Time Out” and discuss what is bothering him/her.  If a child is experiencing unacceptable behaviors on a consistent basis or becomes a danger to others and the methods that we are using are not working, the Director will discuss what options we might use to try to change or correct these behaviors with the family.  All parties must be open and honest in communicating the concerns they are having in dealing with this child.  At times, some parents feel embarrassed by their child's actions and fail to share important information with the staff.  This should never be the case.  The key is for the staff and parents to stay in constant, honest communication to help the child through this difficulty.

"I like that my child is learning and enjoying herself Monday - Friday.  I like the whole wash your hands by entering and all-in-all every teacher there has a big heart for the kids.  When they walk in, they are always greeted with arms open and the patience level of the teachers is great.  They do their best to calm a crying child down."

REPLY:  We absolutely love what we do.  KGLC is a learning center and not just a childcare center.  In recent years, many other centers have started calling themselves "learning centers" or "nursery schools" but they cannot compare to Kinder-Garden Learning Center.  Thank you for the kind words.

"Great ! ! !"

REPLY:  We are so glad that you like what we're doing at KGLC.  Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your life and care for OUR children.

"Wonderful !  I am very picky when it comes to my daughter!"

REPLY:  Thank you very much.  We are picky when it come to any of OUR children.  Every teacher and aide works hard to make each child's experience at KGLC an enjoyable one.

"Nothing needs to be changed.  My children love coming to KGLC and I wish I could do more to help out.  I have and will continue to recommend KGLC to all friends, clients and parents I know.  Thanks, Heather M."

REPLY:  KGLC is constantly changing to meet the changing needs of OUR children.  The fact that you recommend us to others makes us so happy and proud.  Thank you for allowing us to prepare OUR children for future success.  The kind words of our past and present parents show that we must continue to do what is right by putting each child's needs first.
