August was a very busy and exciting month for us with all the activities, projects and amount of time we were able to play outside with the children. They enjoyed all our fun-filled activities and we hope that you liked what we were able to accomplish with them.

THEME: The children will be learning about the changing weather this month, as well as community helpers and the zoo.

LANGUAGE: We will be using words such as “weather”, “cool”, “police”, “firefighter”, “giraffe” and “zebra”.

MUSIC: We will be holding our music lessons for the children on Sept. 9th & 28th. We will also sing our favorite “back to school” songs & perform our fun finger plays every day.

MATH & SCIENCE: We will be talking about the changing weather this month for science. We will also continue our work with recognizing shapes and colors as well as counting from 0-10.

BOOKMOBILE: Mrs. Burgess will be visiting us this month on September 21st. We will also continue reading our favorite stories at story time.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: The children will continue their work with gross motor skills and we will continue to spend time outdoors as the weather permits and continue our indoor gym classes.

CREATIVE ART: We will be doing some great art projects with leaves and acorns in addition to our usual art projects.

HEALTH & SAFETY: We will be working with the children on taking turns and proper manners with teachers, guests and friends. We will also stress the importance of covering our mouths when we sneeze or cough as well as washing our hands.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ms. Sherry and Ms. Donna are also celebrating birthdays this month.

PARENT PARTICIPATION:

Please label everything brought into the center before it arrives. This includes food, clothing and diapers. Please begin to dress them accordingly for the changing weather conditions.

Please read your child’s daily note for specific information regarding your child’s day and a list of any items that may be needed by the center.

Please try to park in the KGLC “drop off / pick up” spaces only. Do not park in the road or in the employee parking area. Make sure you are holding your toddler’s hand when walking them to your car. Please do not wear your shoes in the upstairs classrooms.

REMINDERS:

Parent / Teacher Night (No Children) will be on September 15th @ 6:00pm. Please try to make it.
